Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, says it will look at taking part in Polymarket's newest funding round, extending a relationship between the two companies that began with a large investment in the prediction market platform last year.

ICE has positioned itself as one of Wall Street's biggest backers of prediction markets, platforms that let users trade on the outcome of real world events ranging from elections to economic data releases. The exchange operator's earlier investment in Polymarket was widely seen as a bet that prediction markets could eventually become a mainstream part of how investors and everyday users think about probability and risk, alongside more traditional financial products.

Prediction markets have grown quickly in recent years, drawing both enthusiastic users and regulatory scrutiny as platforms like Polymarket expand their reach in the United States following changes to how such markets are treated under federal rules. Interest from an established financial infrastructure company like ICE has been seen as a sign of growing legitimacy for the sector, even as questions remain about how heavily regulated prediction markets will ultimately become.

ICE did not detail how much it might invest in the new funding round or when a decision would be made. Polymarket has not commented publicly on the terms or size of the round.

The renewed interest comes as competition in the prediction market space has intensified, with rival platforms also working to expand their user base and secure backing from major financial institutions.
